Seeing some of the enterprise-level distance meeting and videoconferencing technologies at the Web2.0 Expo recently, I’ve been thinking about what sorts of lessons should be taken away for running effective and emotionally engaging meetings in virtual environments. Here’s some of my thinking on the matter…

Sprinting through the Web2.0 Expo
I got a last minute opportunity (thanks, In Kenzo!) to check out the exhibition area of the Web2.0 Expo at the Javitz Center today. Very nerdy, very cool. I got to see this neat demo of the Microsoft Surface interface, which is really impressive up close. I ran into several friends including my colleague Rhiannon…
Web 2.0 tools that I use (how you like them apples, Aliza?)
Modified version of awesome CC-licensed image by Stabilo-Boss This is in response to Aliza Sherman’s excellent blog post on Web2.0 tools that she uses in her daily life. Here is my list of Web2.0 tools I use on nearly a daily basis: Typepad.com: That’s the engine that drives this blog. Twitter: Micro-blogging FTW! I tend…
Lindybloggers.com launching this weekend at ILHC
My friends Carl and Alain announce that they will be officially launching their new swing dance-focused collaborative blog site Lindybloggers.com this weekend at the International Lindy Hop Championships in DC. They promise "coverage of the event, along with reviews about the event, photos and dance competitor interviews." Sounds really cool!
Virgin America’s Red entertainment system rawks

One of the sweetest things about Virgin is their "Red" entertainment system. They have various flavors of video content from broadcast TV…
My 30 second review of the Casio 53W digital calculator watch
Here’s my review of the nerdalicious Casio 53W digital watch that I posted to Amazon today. Could I be a bigger dork?

I just installed the new, free Typepad app for my first gen iPhone. I’m posting this from my phone now and it seems to work seamlessly. You can add pics stored on your phone or take one on the fly like this lovely self-portrait I just took. Sweet!
Yehoodi Video Talk Show Episode 510: Kelley vs Astaire, West Coast vs Lindy vs Chicago Steppin…
After a somewhat long hiatus, Spuds and Rikomatic are back with yet another Yehoodi VIDEO Talk Show, Episode 510 (not 509 as we erroneously say on the show!). In this episode, we talk about ketchup swing, why Satcho loves cheesecake, the difference between "jitterbug" and "Chicago Bop" and what happens when Westies and Lindy Hoppers…
Eventful.com: your personal event coordinator
I’ve been experimenting with the cool calendaring website Eventful.com. It’s an impressive online community-based calendar service with lots of Web2.0 goodness built into it. What’s innovative about Eventful is that any user can add events, tag them, and share them with others. Even better, you can export the events to all sorts of other scheduling…
Cisco:virtual environments help education, video-conferencing doesn’t
Cisco has conducted a meta-study of education technology entitled “Technology in Schools: What the Research Says." Produced by Cisco Systems and the Metiri Group, the report summarizes general trends and representative studies in areas such as television and video use, calculators, engagement devices such as interactive whiteboards, portable or handheld devices, virtual learning, in-school computing,…
