TV network premiere of ICC documentary “The Reckoning” tomorrow on PBS!

Posted on July 13, 2009 by

Tomorrow, July 14, will be the US network premiere of "The Reckoning," a moving and powerful documentary about the International Criminal Court.  I've seen most of the film in a near-final cut, and I can't say enough good things about it.  A must-see for those who care about human rights and global justice. See PBS.org…

This morning, President Barack Obama gave an address in Accra, Ghana, which was simulcast into both the virtual worlds of Metaplace and Second Life.  I, like many other virtual world explorers, logged into both Metaplace and Second Life, as well as posting to Twitter, adding pictures to our Flickr photostreams and taking machinima video of…

Num Pang’s pulled pork sandwich: tasty but pricey

Posted on July 10, 2009 by

I finally got to stop by the Num Pang sandwich shop on East 12th Street tonight for a quick bite on the way home. I had the pulled duroc pork sandwich, pictured above.  "Num pang" is Cambodian for "sandwich," basically the Cambodian equivalent of the Vietnamese bahn mi.  On the plus side, the sandwich was…

Posted on July 9, 2009 by

Fellow lindy hopper Elva prepared this really neat video blog "They're Still Doing the Lindy Hop" on the Wall Street Journal site about the lindy hop renaissance. I get a couple of quotes in there about lindy hop and the future of this great dance.  Elva also got some really dope swing footage in there!

I just got home from catching the legendary Rebirth Brass Band of New Orleans just tearing it up at B.B.
