I had the pleasure of spending this historic night with friends, family and colleagues at the Global Kids office watching the results roll in from around the country. Then I ran off to a breakdance practice from 10-11PM. As I came out of the class, I saw this spectacle — a thousand or so people in Union Square going nuts celebrating Obama’s victory. Someone unfurled a massive flag that got spread around and waved by the crowd as they shouted "Obama!" and "USA!" (Here’s a link to another video of people shouting "Obama!")
As I rolled my bike home to Brooklyn, people were cheering and celebrating on the streets everywhere, cars were honking their horns, restaurants and bars were full of revelers. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I’m so proud to be American right now, and excited about what four years of America under Obama’s leadership is going to look like.
