Black Eyed Peas vs. evil corporate hip-hop dwarves

Posted on June 29, 2006 by

InstantdefEpisode two of the series "Instant Def" has just been posted.  As I have blogged about previously, the hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas have teamed up with the candy bar Snickers for a web-based action series in which they star as super-heroes who fight the corporate takeover of hip hop music.

This episode opens as our heroes lay injured in the hospital after a mysterious explosion at the Snickers factory where they work. Strangely transformed by the blast, they head off to confront "Master LP," who bested  MC will.i.am in episode 1.

I have to wonder how the  Little People of America are reacting to fact that all of the bad guys in the series are dwarves?  Evil corporate hip-hop dwarves.

This cruel stereotyping of little people has to stop.  Of all of the dwarves I’ve ever known, not one of them has ever tried to co-opt hip hop. (Or maybe that is part of their fiendish plot!)

Actually, for an ad it’s pretty funny. I know a couple of LPs and they thought it was hilarious. They also point out that Mr devel and Hypeman are bad guys and they are LPs.
