The youth empowerment group Global Kids, in preparation for the Second Life Community Convention coming up this weekend in Chicago, have created a cool set of 12 Moo cards illustrating "Best Practices in Using Second Life for Real World Education."
They are all great tips that SL educators, non-profits and developers should take heed of. I especially like this one: "8. Situate Second Life within a Larger Internet Ecology." Word.
If you are going to SLCC, find a Global Kid rep and see if you can collect all 12 cards!

[slcc] Overview of Non-profit and Philanthropy Thread at the Third Annual Second Life Community Convention
From August 24-26, 2007, in Chicago, Global Kids will be coordinating the Non-profit and Philanthropy Thread at the Third Annual Second Life Community Convention. This serves to collect all of our posts, photos, videos, audio, and more in one location….
This is such a clever and tangible way to distill complex ideas from virtual world education into shareable, memorable takeaways. Tip #8 about situating Second Life within a larger internet ecology really resonates—it’s a reminder that no single platform exists in a vacuum, especially as we now see AI tools like image-to-video generators expanding how educators create immersive content. Great to see Global Kids leading with such thoughtful, practical resources.
