I threw together this video montage from Yehoodi’s 10th anniversary celebration this past weekend, a whirlwind of live music, dancing, and partying until all hours that started on Thursday evening and went straight through to Sunday at 1am. This video gives you a small taste of what the weekend was like, including footage from:
- Our main Y10A dance on Saturday October 18 featuring the remarkable Kim Nalley on vocals and the Danny Mixon Trio
- The Saturday late night party at the incredible Spiegeltent at the South Street Seaport. Check the stiltwalker jamming with the lindy hoppers!
- And the Sunday afternoon Central Park picnic featuring Chivalrous and Spuds on ukelele
I feel so blessed to be a part of this remarkable national (and increasingly international) community of swing dancers who share such a passion for the music and the dance. And while we have had bigger Yehoodi celebrations in the past, this one felt the most community-focused — involving our friends at Jelly Roll Productions, the New York Swing Dance Society, Jook Joint Shimmy, and many more local communities of lindy hoppers from around the country.
This weekend was a labor of love that many times I doubted would even happen. Venues were too expensive, musicians cancelled, dates got pushed back. And then in the past month everything just kind of came together.
I am just blissed out on jazz music and lindy hop right now!
That is beautiful! Is there any way I could copy this clip?
