This Wednesday, August 5, I will be heading upstate to speak at the Games in Education Conference at the Hudson Valley Community College about Global Kids' innovative digital games program "Playing 4 Keeps."
Specifically I'll be speaking on the panel "Relating Social Issues & Historical Events through Games"
with Andrea Lauer Rice, CEO & Founder of Lauer Learning.
We will be "exploring the potential to convey serious historical, social and political issues and events in a meaningful way through games and related media." I love how Lauer Learning is merging graphic novels and digital games as a teaching tool. See for example their Freedom Fighter 56 site about the 1956 Hungarian revolution.
In general, I've heard great things about the Games in Education conference, and am excited to hang out with our friend Peggy Sheehy, along with folks from PBS, Sesame Workshop, and other cool organizations.
Educational game scan teach the kids more than actually reading and learning as this is a fun way of getting educated.
I think this is very good idea that educational games should be added to the syllabus and there majority of kids who don’t take interest in studies i this way they will and also will get more interest when they will hear about games.
