PMT Breakers performing tonight at Frim Fram dance

Posted on May 8, 2008 by

Somewhat last minute, the PMT breakers group that I’m in is performing again tonight at Yehoodi’s Frim Fram dance at around 10pm, if anyone is interested in catching us.  We’re mad rusty, but hopefully we’ll pull off something cool. That’s at 412 Eighth Avenue, near 31st Street, 4th floor, NYC.  Only $8 at the door,…

Atlanta-based hip-hop band AFAR at Jazz at Lincoln Center yesterday!

Posted on May 4, 2008 by

I got to catch the Atlanta-based hip-hop band AFAR at Jazz at Lincoln Center yesterday afternoon, which was as amazing as I’d hoped it would be.  They were performing the tail end of their world tour sponsored by the US State Department and Lincoln Center called "The Rhythm Road."  I got some cool shots of…

Dino5: Hip-hop for babies

Posted on April 27, 2008 by

Check out this ill video for the kid’s hip-hop group the Dino5. This is some serious mad cuteness.  Almost makes me wish I had a kid to play this for him / her.  Ah hell, I’ll just get it for myself. Dino5 features : MC T-Rex : aka the incomparable Chali 2na of Jurassic 5!…

Sam Roberts video “Them Kids” combines The Sims and Lindy Hop!

Posted on April 24, 2008 by

This sweet music video combines stuff that I’m into: Lindy Hop and computer games.  Check out "Them Kids" by Montreal-born mystic rocker Sam Roberts.  Gotta love those lindy aerials and kitschy "Sims" aesthetic!  And it’s gotta good beat you can dance to.

Demo of “B-Boy” video game for the Playstation2 & PSP at NY Comic Con

Posted on April 20, 2008 by

At the 2008 New York Comic Con, I got Will Phillips of SouthPeak Games to do a quick demo of the new breakdance video game "B-Boy," coming out this summer for the PSP and Playstation2.  Looks pretty sweet, although I’m not really sure how appealing the game is once the thrill of pretend breakdancing fades. …

More pics of PMT Breakers

Posted on April 18, 2008 by

Matt Lopez posts a bunch of pics to his Facebook from the PMT breakdance group’s performance last night, that I don’t think he’ll mind if I grab to post here. I wanted to mention the diversity of our little group, which I think is remarkable.  From left-to-right: Eli (construction worker), Eugene (Wall St trader), Will…

PMT breakers brought it!

Posted on April 17, 2008 by

I just got home from celebrating with friends after my breakdance performance tonight at PMT Studios.  I’m so proud of my team members — Eli, Trevor, Matt, Eugene and Will — who all just killed it tonight.  And I’m happy that I performed my parts well, including the Pavan freeze that I blogged about yesterday!…

Crunch time for our breakdance performance tomorrow!

Posted on April 16, 2008 by

I’m resting up today because tomorrow night my breakdance group performs at the PMT Spring Showcase. I haven’t been blogging (or doing much of anything else) lately because every free moment for the past couple of weeks has been spent on breakdance practice.  It’s been a lot of last-second choreographing and adjustments to get to…

Reminder: Breakdance performance next Thursday!

Posted on April 7, 2008 by

By Nima Farsinejad, used with permission. Just a reminder that next Thursday, April 17 my breakdance performance class will be performing as part of the PMT Spring Dance Showcase in Manhattan.  It’s a really fun hip-hop routine, with lots of neat comic moments, some cool power moves, and slick choreography.  We’ve been practicing several nights…
